Walking the golf course is one of the true joys of the game. Sure, a golf cart/car can add some convenience, but when you come right down to it, there are (in my mind, anyway) far fewer things better than experiencing a golf course on foot.
And it can be even more enjoyable with a powered buggy at your side (or, technically, in front of you.)
I’ve tested many powered buggies over the years, and I can say without a shadow of doubt that they can be a huge benefit – not the least of which is the “energy savings” you can gain by letting the buggy doing all the “heavy lifting” for you (especially if you have a golf bag crammed with everything you own, as I do.)
One disadvantage of some powered buggies, however, is their size and weight. If you’ve got a small car/boot, and/or can’t lift a heavier buggy, then your options for a strong, powerful and lightweight powered buggy can be limited.
But the PowaKaddy CT6 may change all that. Last month, I took one out for a test drive, and I was quite impressed with this little beauty.
They say big things come in small packages, and this certainly applies to the PowaKaddy CT6. Small and lightweight (it’s only 9.8kg), the CT6 is feature-packed and full of power.
The first thing I noticed was just how small the unit is when folded. In fact, it’s smaller than many non-powered buggies I’ve used. Officially, it is 20% smaller than the previous PowaKaddy Compact models and 35% smaller than its nearest competitor on the market. (Hint: you can also invert the wheels to make it even smaller). This makes it perfect for even the smallest car boot, or the backseat of your car. It even features an integrated carry handle, which makes it easy to lift and transport. The frame and chassis are super strong, and super light, making it an ideal powered buggy option for most golfers.
The ultra-compact PowaKaddy CT6 folds and unfolds in two simple steps – making the entire process quick and easy. Simply pop it out of your boot, click two levers, and boom!…it’s ready for your bag. Once your bag is on, and the easily-adjustable handle is set for your height, you’ll notice the bright 2.8” full-colour widescreen display and simple-to-use controls (it’s so simple, even a magazine editor can use it.) It also features a USB charging port so you can keep your phone, GPS or other smart device charged throughout your round.
When on the course, the CT6 boasts a powerful speed controller system, allowing you to adjust it to fit any walking speed. It has plenty of “oomph” to get up even the steepest of hills, while the buggy’s “HET” system provides plenty of downhill control. It even features an optional self-sensing Electronic Braking System, to help stop/slow the buggy when needed. Very snazzy.
Another cool little feature is the Automatic Distance Function, which will automatically stop the buggy after a pre-determined distance. This is great for when you are near the green, for example, and want to send the buggy, say, 15 metres toward the next tee while you take your putter to your ball.
The High-Power Plug’n’Play 30v battery system gives you all the juice you need for your round, while the 230w motor is so silent you would hardly know it’s a powered buggy.
Overall, we were extremely impressed with the PowaKaddy CT6, and would highly recommend you give it a “look in” if you’re in the market for a lightweight, full-featured powered buggy.
The PowaKaddy CT6 comes with an extended 3-year warranty on the buggy, and a 5-year warranty on the Lithium Battery.
Available in 18-Hole 220wh and 36-Hole 260wh.
